Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction

The following is a piece of writing submitted by KC Rell on August 15, 2008
"I was just sitting in my room when I got this idea for a poem."

I know who killed me

He's here,
in this room.
I can feel his presence,
along with my own.
I'm hiding, all alone.
Nowhere to go.
The phone;
it's on the other side
of the room.
I'm hiding.

No way to call for help.
He has me right where
he wants me;
if I move he has me,
if I don't he'll find me.
Soon.

I'm hiding because I know something
I shouldn't
And he needs to know.
Like the scorpion and frog,
it's in his nature
to kill.

I'm hiding because I know
that little secret I shouldn't.
I know he has killed,
and I'm next.
Right after he finds me
he'll smile wickedly.
He'll do it again.
I know it.

Which is why I run
for the phone;
it's on the other side
of the room.
I'm hiding.

I run.
He catches me.
He's found me,
and he smiles wickedly.
