The purple color catches my eye It sits so innocently I can't believe I didn't see That it would make such noise
I bought it to bring joy And to entertain But now it is simply Driving me insane
The noise comes out The screeching pandamonium Of a toy once played with That has now been passed off For something newer and shinier
It looks so lonely I go and pick it up This poor, sad monkey toy That clasps its hands In mock prayer
I shove it into the closet With all of the other poor, Downcast toys Then I go and forget about it too Like all other playthings

Comments Douglas Feb 20 | Nicely done, Hannah, and welcome to the site! Looking forward to seeing what else you have to share. ~Posted by Douglas, Feb 20 | Janee Feb 21 | Very nice, and so very true...we outgrow the toys we once loved, and forget all about them. I think Doug wrote about that in one of his pieces once...let's see...
