Some people speak of canine pets
With highest words of praise,
And others of their pets who have
Distinctly feline ways.
And there are those with loyal love
For beetles, snakes or mice,
Though I would never keep such pets
For love, or any price.
The pet I love, with gentle eyes,
As sweet as Quasimodo,
With red and green and yellow plumes,
My Jeorge, the silly dodo.
