It's been said that the month that is cruelest of all
Is a month in the spring, not the winter or fall;
'Tis the month between March and that merry old May,
Oh, yes April's the cruel one, as Eliot would say.
Though I've said it before, I shall say it again,
It's not for the memories, the lilacs or rain;
The cruelest of all, if you'll just catch my meaning,
Is that April's the time for that dreadful spring cleaning.
