While the Year Is New

This post was written in 2 minutes.
I guess this would be called iambic triameter. A one-sentence poem.

While the year is new
And wrapped in mystery,
Like long awaited gifts
Beneath the Christmas tree,
Whose wrapping I would tear
With eager strokes and swift
Until at last I found
The secret of my gift,
Then I recall that life
Does not unwrap this way,
But slowly is revealed
From day to passing day.
