Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction

The following is a piece of writing submitted by Sara Taylor on February 25, 2008
"haha...I was folding laundry, and all of a sudden this song popped in my mind. lol. I didn't have anyone in particular who inspired me to write it...but yeah. Hope you like it! (Wish you could hear the music that goes to it....it's so much better with music!)"

A chance for you and me

[Verse 1]
We walked together
side by side, hand in hand
we never saw it coming
it all happened unplanned
but we hoped it would last
we hoped that love would never fall
now looking back at the memories
I can see we had it all

[Chorus]
We could've worked it out
It could've been a dream
it could've become everything
we wanted it to be
but you had to screw it up
fooled me right as I believed
that there could ever be a chance for there to be
a chance for you and me

[Verse 2]
I thought I could handle
what is now called the past
but I still can't believe
that what we had did not last
I just sit here just helpless
looking back at the cost
Can you see, or are you blind?
Can't you see what we lost?!
[Chorus]

[Bridge]
Was it worth all those years?
Was it worth all those tears?
To think we had a chance
that we could've made it last
I can't even shudder to think!

We could've worked it out
it would've been our dream
we could've made it everything
we wanted it to be

[Second Chorus]
We could've worked it out
it could've been a dream
It could've been everything
we wanted it to be
but you had to screw it up
fooled me right as I believed
that there could ever be a chance
for there to be
a chance for you and me

[ohhhhhhhh]
a chance for you and me
[ohhhhhhhh]
Not there's no chance for you and me.
