There are snakes where I live but you’d be playing with fire in attempting to poke one: the result would be dire. Most snakes are shy and get out of the way, but the Eastern Brown is in for the fray. He’ll rear up and bite you showing no fear. You’d need help – and quickly – for your end would be near if not rushed to the medics, where a doc on the scene could quickly inject the antivenene. So we watch where we walk, and we don’t go unshod, and remember that snakes are not things to prod.

Comments Rabbit Stu Mar 10, 2009 | Nice! I half expected the poem to end like this:
So we watch where we walk, and we don’t go unshod, Or we'll meet prematurely with almighty God!
or...
So we watch where we walk, and we don't go unshod, Or we'll find ourselves under six feet of fresh sod! ~Posted by Rabbit Stu, Mar 10, 2009 | Scribbler Mar 10, 2009 | What fun endings! I changed the rhythm of my last line after I read these. ~Posted by Scribbler, Mar 10, 2009 | Mathax Mar 10, 2009 | Great one. ~Posted by Mathax, Mar 10, 2009 |
