Replacement
I had a replacement once. It still makes me laugh now to think of it.
My husband and I had what I at least thought of as a happy marriage, until my husband’s work took him to Bali. Well, he absolutely adored the place, the people, the food, the lifestyle –everything. And, as it turned out the women.
He came home full of idealistic back to nature notions. He wanted the simple life. There was no need for the mod cons. Campfires and hurricane lamps and a simple rural shelter were all he needed.
After the divorce settlement we went our separate ways. It wasn’t too long after that when I heard about my replacement. A beautiful young Balinese woman apparently, who came to this country for a new life with my ex. They moved in to his idyllic country hideaway.
I just had to laugh the next time I had news of them. The replacement wife wanted electricity, and a washing machine. She didn’t leave her family and come all this way to live the same way as she had in the village…….
