"A common courtesy often misunderstood "

Two Little words

'Love means never having to say you're sorry,' this quote from Love Story written by Eric Segal is about all most people remember from the film. The quote was parodied so much that it became a joke that took away from the touching film the point that Segal tried to make. Not 'having' to say sorry may be the very reason you should say it when you err. Sure, your loved one will understand and accept a faux pas from you but still an apology would show that it was unintentional. So yes, tell them you're sorry and mean it, not because you have to but because you want to. Saying you're sorry is one way to develop a good relationship into a great one.

No matter how long we've been together or how well we've know each other there are still times that I've misread my wife's wishes and end up upsetting her. Because she is so understanding, she usually won't say anything and therefore I feel worse when I find out about it. She doesn't want an excuse and she doesn't need an 'I'm sorry' but at least an apology shows that I didn't mean it. Saying I'm sorry is as important as saying I love you because it shows concern for their feelings. Some say that marriage is a game, but if you keep score in this game, you will end up losing.
