My wife complained because I never hear A word she says to me from day to day, And then she shed a single doleful tear Then turned her back on me and stormed away. (In truth I never heard a word of this, And never knew that she was so upset, Until my kids declared I'd been remiss, And then berated me with angry threats.) I do not understand why they're so mad; I've never listened since the day we wed, My deafness isn't just a ploy or fad; I do exactly what the Good Book says. For why was Adam punished all his life? "Because," God said, "you listened to your wife."
