The result is a rather improbable tragedy.

Jack and Jill went up a hill
To fetch a pail of water.
Jack fell down and broke his crown;
That Jill's a lousy spotter.
Jack and June went to the moon
To fetch a giant crater;
They scooped it up in a coffee cup,
But left it there for later.
Jack and Joan took out a loan,
The banker thought it funny,
To buy a boat that wouldn't float:
A tragic waste of money.
Jack and Jane stood in the rain -
A cold and dismal huddle,
First they stepped, and then they leapt,
And landed in a puddle.
Jack and Jean were oh, so mean.
They ate the children's lunches,
And by their knees, from nearby trees,
They hung the kids in bunches.
Jack and Jules were utter fools
Who climbed up in the tower
And rang the bell, a doleful knell
At every quarter hour.
Jack and Jo stood in a row
With countless silly people
Who climbed up high, and with a sigh
Jumped from the church's steeple.
Jack and Jenn went to the pen
For crimes they had committed,
So Jack read books on famous crooks,
While Jenn sat by and knitted.
Jack and Jess were such a mess
From playing in the sewer;
They lit a match while down the hatch;
The world has two kids fewer.
