There are those who complain of the mess on the shore, All the litter and trash and the refuse galore; All the bottles and cans and the fragments of glass And the chemical sludge that will kill all the bass.
All the kids treat the wildlife with utter disdain; They ignore every sign that is hung by the lane, As they trample the grass and they pester the beasts And they leave all their mess and don't care in the least.
Every minute the problem persists and expands As potato chip wrappers are left on the sands. Dirty diapers are carelessly dumped by the beach; Are you shocked that such things would be left within reach?
Well, I'll never object to the mess I can see; With my eyes to the ground I shall walk carefully. But the thing I can't see is the thing that I dread: It's those nasty mean gulls that drop gifts on my head.
