The King

Well, if I were a lion, then I would be king -
Of the beasts and the jungle, and everything.
I would roar and I'd growl, and I'd strike fear at heart,
Then with sharp teeth and claws I would tear you apart.
And if I were an eagle, then I would surmise
I'd be king of the mountains, the air and the skies,
I would leave earth behind, and I'd go for a spin,
And with joy in my heart I would soar on the wind!
And if I were a whale, I'd be king of the seas,
Without boundaries or limits, I'd swim where I please.
(Though I'd have to beware of the storms and monsoons,
And those nasty mean creatures with boats and harpoons.)
But to tell you the truth, though I'm not one of these -
Not the king of the lands, the skies or the seas -
I've a kingly domain, and it makes me quite merry;
As an aardvark I'm king of the whole dictionary!
