I've been told that my poems would be so much funnier If I'd only consent to try making them punnier. But a pun is the worst of the low-brow devices; So I scowl much upon them - I think that suffices.
As a general rule I have always returned To the meter and rhyme that I've already learned. I'll avoid branching out into art forms less suited, And I'll stick to the basics in which I'm well rooted.
I can't do it myself, I can't meet the demand - So I'll watch for a punster to lend me a hand, And he'll whip up some jokes that are corny and light; He's the cream of the crop who can word things just right.
Oh, but hold all your horses, and wait just a bit, Don't scream and convulse, for I've found puns that fit - So I'll rework my poem and throw them right in Though I doubt they'll be funny or cause you to grin.
When I stop to consider the puns that I wrote, I remember thirteen - though some are remote! Though they might be well hidden, this poem is punnier, But to tell you the truth, I don't think it's much funnier.

Comments Rabbit Stu Apr 11 | Depending on how you count them, you might argue that there's actually more than 13 puns in this poem.
But please don't post comments listing the puns, because if you do, people won't have the fun of trying to find them all! :) ~Posted by Rabbit Stu, Apr 11 |
