When the air gets too warm,
In my old prep school dorm,
And from each window screen
Hangs a suffering teen,
And the nice summer breeze
Is naught but a tease,
I'll be a petitioner
For a new air conditioner.
(When it's hot enough to boil an egg,
It's second nature for me to beg)
Though you might think it odd,
The teacher will nod,
And I'll laugh quite merrily,
As she agrees warily.
Though my neighbors all languish
In oven-hot anguish,
And they're filled with such hate...
I think mom is just great.
