Today I wish that I was a moose, Not a duck, not a mouse, not a rabbit or goose. Don't think I'm opposed to those other fine creatures; I'ts just that the moose has some wonderful features!
For starters, the moose is so big and so strong, With muscles that bulge, and legs that are long. If ever a moose disagrees with a car, It’s the moose that escapes with nary a scar.
And let’s not forget international fame; In all of the world he’s a household name. Though never acknowledged by the State of Nebraska, He’s a symbol of Sweden, Maine and Alaska.
And finally there’s something my mother once stressed: “Whatever you do, do it well; be the best.” I know that the moose has the most ugly face, And quite frankly, I’m tired of just second place.

Comments Rabbit Stu Nov 21, 2007 | I wanted to include the fact that the moose is the national animal of both Sweden and Norway, but I couldn't make them both fit and still keep the rhythm going. ~Posted by Rabbit Stu, Nov 21, 2007 | Rabbit Stu Nov 21, 2007 | And speaking of rhythm, I think I still need to do some work on that verse...when I read this I find myself stumbling over "international" and "Nebraska", but I can't figure out a better way to phrase it so it flows better. ~Posted by Rabbit Stu, Nov 21, 2007 | Josiah T. Nov 21, 2007 | So what's next? An ant? A fish? Personally, I've always liked dogs... (hint, hint) :-PPPP ~Posted by Josiah T., Nov 21, 2007 | Rabbit Stu Nov 21, 2007 | ant is actually next on the list. :) ~Posted by Rabbit Stu, Nov 21, 2007 | Katie Nov 21, 2007 | Great poem! :-)
Could you maybe leave out the "his" and just put "and let's not forget international fame"?
And maybe you could take out the Texas and put in "the State of Nebraska".
And the moose is really a symbol of Sweden and Norway? Fascinating. ~Posted by Katie, Nov 21, 2007 | Rabbit Stu Nov 21, 2007 | Thanks! I'd come up with the "his" idea, but I just wasn't seeing my way around the nebraska problem.
The one solution I had come up with was to find a state with only one syllable, but MAINE is the only one, and I couldn't use that...for obvious reasons! ~Posted by Rabbit Stu, Nov 21, 2007 | Josiah T. Nov 21, 2007 | "ant is actually next on the list."
Whoa! I just randomly guessed! Am I good or am I good... :-P ~Posted by Josiah T., Nov 21, 2007 |
