I let you slip through my fingers So willingly, yet unwillingly. I never tried to keep you from going, But how I wished you would stay. To hold to you more tightly Would only force you away.
Now we are strangers; We pass each other by. We pretend it's all the same, But our laughter is a lie. My smiles are empty; There is pain in your eyes.
Your choices drive us apart. My choices drove you away. There is nothing left for saving At the end of every day. I let you slip through my fingers Like sand falling to the shore, So willingly, yet unwillingly. I couldn't hold on to you anymore.
