It’s not the end today my love, it’s not the end at all
If I could only comfort you, it’s not the end till fall
For then I will be back again and when my journey’s done
I promise love I’ll walk with you beneath the autumn sun

Beneath the autumn sun we’ll walk, we’ll walk just you and I
And I will hold your hand my love, beneath the autumn sky
And I will whisper ‘love’ my love, I’ll whisper in your ear
And I will say ‘I love you’ love so there’s no need to fear

So there’s no need to fear my love, my journey soon will end
And we will be together hand in hand like two best friends
It’s only for the winter love, the spring and summer too
By autumn I’ll be back again, be back again for you

I promise I’ll be back again, my love, I love you so
So do not shed a tear my love, though it is hard to go
Please take this flower, here my love, I’ll put it in your hair
And you will always think of me when ere you place it there

When ere you wear this flower love, just think and I’ll be there
My spirit in the soft sweet breeze that blows about your hair
And when you close your eyes my love you’ll see my smiling face
And it really won’t be long until I return to this place

So it’s not the end today my love, it’s not the end at all
If I could only comfort you, it’s not the end till fall
For then I will be back again and when my journey’s done
I promise love to walk with you beneath the autumn sun
