This post is Part 2 of a writing series titled Jaquelyn's story.

"Where is she? She's never late; why is she late?" A large woman paced the room and then went into her kitchen. The woman was a little over sixty and barely looked her age. The membrance of beauty remained on her wrinkled and worn face.

"She's fine, her plane probably just got delayed." A man who looked about the age of the woman reassured quickly.

"I know, I just hate her being late. Everyone is waiting for us at the church." Immediately the couple could hear the door open and close.

"I'm here! Sorry I'm late." Jack stepped into the kitchen and hugged the woman. "Hello Richard." She said to the man, shaking his hand awkwardly.

"Why are you late? It's almost dark!" The woman grabbed a coat and a purse and ran out the front door. Jack and Richard exchanged glances and followed the woman.

"Sorry Mom," Jack yelled after her mother, "My plane was late." After a pause, she started again, "besides, why do you care anyways? We're not that late." Jack got into the backseat of her mother's silver 2008 BMW.

"Yes, but Tyler is waiting." Jack smiled and nodded. Her oldest sister had just had her child a few months before and her mother was still psyched. It had been almost five months since Jack had seen her family. Her mother didn't seem to really care that she was there. Jack knew that she would remember how long it had been since she had seen her youngest, and only unmarried, daughter eventually.

Jack had gotten to sleep at two the night before and had to wake up two hours later to be able to be on the six-o-clock flight to Utah from New York. Her eyes felt heavy and her head ached with lack of sleep.

Jack mentally prepared herself for her day. It was almost five, and that was a pretty late, which was good. Her family really hated how far away she lived because they loved having someone near them to hate. Jack had always been the black sheep in the bunch. Just the fact that she was a Planner shook her family. They hated that she only had a second rate j0b. She was supposed to be a lawyer or a doctor, but she had jumped off of the conveyer belt. They hated that. It was almost a million times worse that she was unmarried. She was like the Dead Kennedys and they were the Brady Bunch. The thought made her smile as she was driven through her hometown of Spanish Fork, Utah.

"Here we go." She muttered under her breath.
