Another perspective on how to have the heart of a child

Little kids in their bright yellow bikes,
They laugh and smile in childish delight.
Then noon arrives swiftly with its warm, red glow...
To end the endless games;
To stop energy's unstoppable flow.
It's marking the end of another glorious day
That was full of life in it's grand, intrepid fray.

Joke and jump! live and love!;
A child's dream is reality.

"Come inside!
It is dark outside!"

Stop and sigh, whine and plead;
A child's life is ruled by parenting.

"Five more minutes," she said
"Then dinner and shower and at 8 pm, bed."

the thought of tomorrow just
ends the perpetual sorrow...

Oh what else is a child?
Other than a mindless mind of glee?
Living life to its fullest,
(Not like that one neighborhood bully,
But like the kid that runs in the mud!
Catches crawdads! And swings from a tree!
Like the kids that play 'Cops and Robbers'!
Or like the kid that always wants to play,
'Hide and go Seek').

Having the heart of a child is,

more than just....

trusting your parents fully....

It's being who you are,
It's being Happy, being Free.

Visit this author's page
Today I heard an argument explode;
Arguments dwindling, logic then slowed.
People started off with simple small talk
They started to question with wrong remarks
People watching, shaking heads, others gawk.
They started spewing insults, making sparks...
And screaming increased, nobody would stop.
What happens when stubborn fools confront me?
Walk away I will, dignity of mine never stops...
For arguments drain logic's dignity.

Visit this author's page
They crawl in the night,
In the filth of the darkness...
They slither and writhe in masked pain.
Yet they'll never hide,
No matter how hard they try...
As they divulge in the pleasures of Night's reign.

Oh yea, and try as you might,
You won't find them with the light,
For as it shines on them, they will flee...

For you will not find them through this Light
By just shining it, and ruining their sight,
For they will not know how to use it to see.

Yet coax them through your love
And through your whispers of prayers,
And hope against hope that they hear...
For it is they who must crawl out,
Of the night. So don't over-shine, don't shout,
And then they will learn to no longer fear.

And be blinded at first they will seem,
And as they change by using light to see,
And then will they know,
That it's in the light where to glow!
And in the light of the sun is where to be.

Visit this author's page
Like the pull of a magnet is the friendship of a true friend, for no matter what they endure, in the end they will be drawn to each other.

Much like meth is what a bad friend can be, for he may seem well and pleasing at first, but will you leave high and dry in the end.

Like the dam that takes on each crashing wave upon wave, is a friend who who is loyal to one, even when treated unfairly.

Like the noises in the jungle that scare off the wild birds, are your mishaps that turn an unforgiving friend forever against you.

Better is it to loose all your inheritance and riches in the world, than to loose a friend in whom you can entrust anything in the world to.

Like the bright morning rays of sunshine after the darkest night, is the day that a man disowns a companion in sin.

Like a consuming fire is the trust of a true friend, tell him what you may, your secrets burn up in secrecy to never be revealed elsewhere.

Only a fool trusts a friend who invites one to sin, for his secrets will be proclaimed from every mountain and rooftop.

Worse is it for one to confront a man who defends his best friend, than to feel the wrath of a lioness protecting her young.

Much like the way a cockroach will flee when the lights turn on, is a foul friend who runs away when the time to fight comes.

Woe to the man who can make no true friends, for better would it be for his life to end.

Better is it for one to make peace with his enemies, than to dine with companions in sin he calls friends.

Visit this author's page
decided to continue with my proverbs and make it a series

Like a traveler with no map is a fool who attempts to give advice.

As the bird that migrates to the south through sheer instinct, is the faith of a wise man.

Like stale pastries is the advice of a fool, for though it may appear appealing, it is no good.

Words from a wise man to a listening ear is like a downpour of rain in a drought-stricken land, for much life will spring forth afterwards.

A gathering of fools is worse than a band of thieves, for at least thieves are aware of the repercussions their actions might cause.

The treasures of the richest billionaire in the world cannot compare to the worth of being in the midst of wise advisers.

As a moth is drawn to a flame, so is a fool who is drawn to his folly.

A wise man knows when he sins, but a fool knows no difference.

Woe to the man who crosses paths with a fool, for it would be better to to dine with his enemies than to dine with him.

Like a buried treasure uncovered is a person who allies himself with a wise man.

Worse is it to call a fool a friend you trust, than to stay with a husband who abuses you.

A wise friend is more precious than a diamond in the rough, for diamonds can only buy you so much, while the the rare alliance with a wise man is priceless.

Visit this author's page
Like a pendulum that swings to and fro is two stubborn fools arguing their points, for there is no end to their bickering.

Like a fruits skin peel is a mothers love for her child, for she stands between danger and the beloved she protects.

Like thunder without rain is a man who declares this and that yet lies all the same.

Like a hatch-ling that falls from its nest is a child who runs away from home.

Like a snake that paralyzes its prey with his eyes is a friend that encourages his peer to sin.

Like a blind man with no cane is a fool who declares himself wise, for attempts a feat that cannot be done without help.

Like the tree that bears much fruit and is constantly attended to is a leader with many council, for wisdom is found in the seat of advisers.

Like a dead plant that is revived in the spring is a fool who admits his folly.

Like a wild fire in the wild is a greedy man, for no matter how much he consumes, nothing will satisfy him.

Like a flower that blooms in the spring is a man who worships his body, for the flower will surely wilt in the winter as the man in his old days.

Like a swarm of locusts is an addict, for he destroys every good thing that crosses his path.

Like the sun in the morning is a man who renounces his sin, for the light has finally shone through.

Visit this author's page
