Long before any boisterous roosters revive
And begin with their cockle and doodling crow,
I'm awake at the unholy hour of five,
And my brain is atwitter for that first cup of joe.
While the coffee is brewing I stumble about,
And I try to write poems profound, wise and deep,
But now I'm self-conscious and filled with grave doubt,
'Cause I write stupid stuff when deprived of my sleep.

Actually, when I started this, I had absolutely no idea where I was going with it...I just felt like complaining about being up early. I got six lines completely written before I figured out how I was going to end it.

Haha, I love this, especially the line about being "atwitter for that first cup of joe." How true that is!
