Silent Night

On silent feet I stealthily slithered down the stairs,
Slipping shoes over stockings and sleuthing towards the door;
Supplicating the squeaking would be swallowed before
Striding southward and sucking in free air.

Shoes strike street since sound no more
Should shatter sleuthful schemes
Employed to satisfy saccharine dreams:
Sweet nothings sinfully longed for.
