Top Writing Selections - I Lost My Job

This post was written in 23 minutes.

Good morning! It's Saturday morning, and time to pick my top three favorites from this week's writing prompt to go in the Featured Gallery. I did cheat a bit on this, because I already put my own entry (It Felt Like The End Of The World) in the Gallery. It didn't seem fair not to, since it is already climbing high in popularity rank.

So now, for three others. Katie's I Lost My Job has an entertaining twist which, even though some of us saw it coming, was still a great twist.

Michael K's Ed Loses His Job also has a surprise twist at the end, and I won't say any more about it, for fear of giving it away, in case you haven't read it.

For the third one, I had a tough time deciding. There were two others I really liked. One was Milton's Leave Me Alone, which was much more serious than the other entries. The writing style on this piece was very interesting - it had a clipped and harsh pace to it, which I thought went a long way toward expressing the feelings of the guy who lost his job.

The other one I considered for my third pick was by a newcomer (welcome, Ingrid!) Her Getting Rid Of A Lousy Employee brought a smile to my face. Since she posted it yesterday, you may not have noticed it yet. Be sure to check it out.

In the end, I decided my third pick would be Ingrid's piece, since (as he pointed out himself) Milton's piece didn't quite fit the instructions of the Writing Prompt.

Great job on those writings, everyone! :)

Be sure to check back for the new writing prompt starting tomorrow. The new one is a spin-off idea from Roald Dahl's Charlie And The Chocolate Factory. I have a feeling most of the entries for this one will be pretty silly.
