DIP Publishing - Spam from a Real Dip

I'd like to offer my apologies to each of our many members who were spammed last night by DIP Publishing. In case you were wondering, No, real publishing houses don't indiscriminately spam every author on a creative writing website.
Obviously, we discourage fledgeling authors from getting connected with a publishing house so desperate for business that they will spam people in order to generate business.
Spam is one of the evil plagues of the internet, and we don't condone it here at Fifteen Minutes of FIction.
We have some security checks in place at FMOF to prevent spamming; over the coming months we will continue to explore ways of improving those checks.
One nice thing, though...
It looks like a lot of people have come back to visit the site after a long absence, in order to check their messages.

Jul 28, 2011 | I visited their site, and it looks to me like they're a "vanity publishing" company, which means basically that you have to pay them to publish your book, which is not how real publishers do it. I wouldn't mess around with them. If you're going to go the self-publish route (which is what vanity publishing is a subset of), you might want to look at lulu.com instead; at least they don't ask you for $925 up front for a self-publish service.
And the good news is that lulu didn't spam you!
