An Autobiography of sorts.

An Autobiography of sorts.

I was born in a high bred stainless family, who shared a rack with many others of the same class. Being younger than the rest, I had much to learn about the ways of the world, but it was not difficult to gain an education of sorts from my elders.

Life was easy at first, but, being a Nail, there wasn't much scope for excitement- or movement, for that matter. At least, we were afforded safety from rusting, unlike the lower classes.

Thus, the first part of my life was a simple one, and I was content.

The first excitement in my life came one day in Marchmonth. I was discussing with one of my friends the most efficient means of sharpening when the whole rack shuddered and lurched off its supports. It seemed to me as if the whole world were about to come to an end.

An Autobiography of sorts 2

We were, as I found out later, being transferred to our packages for sale at the local building supplies in the village, but, never having been 'transferred' before, this left much cause for discussion when it was over.

We were picked up by a gigantic pink fleshy thing with graspy bits growing out of it in all directions, (this was the first I had seen of such creatures but i believe they are called 'Hand') and all the while being jolted and bounced about terribly. Oh, I shudder at the thought.

Presently, there came a commotion followed by an almighty rumble that sounded from the 'Hand' and our rack was passed to another of the same kind. It carried us through a massive portal in the wall and down a passage way of colossal size. On the way I glimpsed the portal out of which hundreds of thousand of Nails came daily- Nails of all shapes and lengths, some stainless like myself, others galvanised, flat headed, bent, and some...

...Unsharpened- the savages!
