Summer is Almost Over

Meanwhile, there was snow.
If you live in Norway, summer is just briefly a distraction from snow.
How it dampens the landscape, narrows it down and keeps you inside.
Still, summer is usually enough for you not to really hate the snow.
You just long for something else and remember that something else is possible. Snow is never permanent.
Anyway, snow is not really the problem. As problematic as it is, as cold and even frightening it sometimes might be I dot hate snow. I hate darkness. Snow captures light. It stores the light in a form that in it self it keeps the memory and promisse of summer alive and vissible. Darkness however, is a killer. The darkness of winther stays with me, an unrest and something unfullfilled.
When the darkness comes you wait. You plan and reflect on what this summer gave and try to integrate it into some kind of drive or passion to get you through the end. For then, another time of light and life will will whisper of something new, some possibility or at least a plan or dream to guide you. But for now, its dark. This snow is shallow, it wont stick although the big flakes seem to have no end as it constantly rains down and narrows my view so much i cannot see longer then my hand. Shortly it will be gone. Maby tonight already. If you pay attention and remember past snowfalls you know. And then we are left with darkness. The snow is anoying and taxing. This darkness is numbening and terryfying. I keep what ever trace of summer with me to dare to stare into it. This darkness is coming and I will need my light.
