Day l

On Thursday night I looked out the window of the car. Just beyond the towering banks and administrative buildings I caught a glimpse of scarlet clouds standing out brilliant against a sky that faded from delicate pink to ageless black. The car passed into the shadow of a great, mirrored establishment, and the colours were lost in gray walls and blank, staring windows.

Day ll

On Friday night I looked out the window of the car. Past the laughing heads and waving hands of my friends, beyond the row of decoratively trimmed trees, the sun's last rays threw a warm glow across the world, setting a quiet suburban street on fire. The car slipped into a parking lot, and the bulk of the movie theater masked that star's dying gleam. I melted into the world of the silver screen.

Day lll

On Saturday night I looked out the window of the car. The library's vast park lay before me, empty and waiting. Silhouetted birds cried out for company. The trees rustled invitingly. Then the library doors slammed shut on nature's fresh breeze, trapping the musty air, lest any of the students within be tempted from their books.

Day IV

On Sunday night I looked out the window of the car. Light played on the gold lettering on my Bible, and across the whole valley below me. Crystals far above glittered in their ebony beds, while the most magnificent of them poured itself out on the eyes of the feeble inhabitants of a small world. The car door locked as I stepped out to better view that glorious token of God's power and love.

I rejoiced.
