Now That I've Found You

With you I am me. Hope blankets me, warm and soft. When I'm with you life is good. When you touch me I feel alive. Your embrace is refreshing; so much hate embraced me before you came. I was alone. Lost in a swirling mist of bodies, worry, rushing, pain. I had cut off every emotion, every touch. Now you're here; I am free. Free to love. Free to feel. Now you're here I can love without measure. I am safe. Life without fear; life without despair, full of faith and promise. You found me, I didn't know I was lost. There was a hole in my chest. Filled now with you.

I was cold, oh, so cold. I couldn't feel my heart beat, my feet pound, my hands clap. Now I have you, I feel warm. Heat fills me.

You'll leave. I know you'll leave; but that's okay. You taught me. You told me to love without restraint, without apprehension. I didn't have love. I didn't have hope. I didn't have feeling. I had only pain; I had only terror, despair and distrust.

Thank you. Thank you for your love. Thank you for the nights. The long nights of security, of helping me find myself. Thank you for letting me be me.
