bright sunlight hidden by the blackest cloud
brings dark descending to the summers day
a voice of reason smothered by the crowd

when tempers rise and hold the mob in sway
destruction quickly follows in its wake
and innocents, a high price have to pay

for some, a righteous cause their views to vent
whilst others bent on trouble join the throng
inciting others who no harm have meant

excitement fills the air and moves along
the pack of people now with shouts resound
until police arrive,their presence strong

the aftermath and others help is found
the light of love and kindness all around
