Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction

The following is a piece of writing submitted by MarkHudson on February 19, 2013
"I'm no Bible scholar. But a lot of people talk about the end times. Perhaps that is what we're in. perhaps we still have thousands of years to go...."

How did Orwell know?

How did Orwell know?

Mark Hudson

It was a bright cold day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen,
But nowhere was the president, nowhere could he be seen.
How did Orwell know? What would happen to all?
Did he have the foresight to gaze in a crystal ball?
The nuclear warheads came falling from Iran,
We tried retaliation, but Korea got Japan.
Everyone was nuking, explosions were in mass,
Nothing was remaining, not a blade of grass.
The warlords had destroyed, everything in sight,
but judgement day was coming, and God was mad! Right?
He approached in his judgement robe, and got on his throne,
And said, "I will account for, every single drone."
And for the goats the punishment might've seemed severe,
but the sheep were standing proudly, without a trace of fear.
The man approached the witness stand, and blood was on his palms,
and said, "I'm here to give to those, and bring a sense of calm."
And for a thousand years, we had peace, and Jesus reigned supreme,
But Satan came back one last time to fool some with his schemes.
This may just be my version, of things that I have heard,
part of it is Orwell, but part of it's the "Word."
So hold on to your seats, and be sure to buckle in,
Once the ride is over, you will be chuckling.
But in the meantime we might have to see, horrors that will scare,
but judgement day is coming, and it's time to prepare!
