Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction

The following is a piece of writing submitted by ReballiousAngel on July 26, 2011
"Just an amusing piece I wrote for fun :)"

To Die is to Die

A stealthy man crept up to the door, all dressed in black. The man carried a knife in one hand, as he knocked on the door with his other. The door opened up with a middle age man, who glanced at the knife with unease. The darkly dressed man swept in with a bow, before introducing himself. “Hello Mr. Kilage, I am Andrew Stabely. I am so sorry, but I am here to kill you. You see I am doing a video for my students, to teach them how to kill their victims humanly. I do hope you don’t mind me using you in my video?”

Mr. Kilage eyes went big and round, before narrowing down. “Well I suppose you are trying to help your students, but just the same I think you best find someone else.” Though no sooner had poor Mr. Kilage opened his mouth, Mr. Stabely already was in the house shutting the door. He motioned for Mr. Kilage to come to the couch, as he turned on a light, and started setting up a camera, while whistling the tune of ‘Dixie Land’. Mr. Kilage was about to argue, but decided it was best not to interrupt the man at work, so he sat back to watch. He was impressed on the amount of time Mr. Stabely took to find the right angle, and the right lighting, for this little video.

“Ah, now Mr. Kilage, would you mind lying down? I just need to make sure I have view of you on the entire couch. Ah ha! That’s perfect! Now, I need you to tell me which way is it easier for you to lie, if you know someone is about to kill you?”
“Well, I do believe my back towards you, and then I won’t see when the knife strikes.”
“Excellent, but I did so want your face on the video. Maybe we could move the couch away from the wall? Oh never mind, that would be too much work. Now then, where do you prefer to be stabbed? In the heart or the throat? Oh and do be honest, it’s for the benefit of humanity, and my students.”
“My word, I never thought of such things, I suppose it would have to be the old ticker, and then it will be over much faster.”

“Ah hah, now we are getting somewhere, but if that’s so, you need to lie on your back. Can you turn over?”
Mr. Kilage turned over to his back, and settles there. “Is that better, Mr. Stabely?”
“Perfect, do you want a pillow and a blanket?” Mr. Stabely brought over a pillow and blanket, lovingly spread it over his victim, and rested the pillow under his head. “Now are we all set?”
“By jolly, passing on won’t be that bad after all, and now I won’t have to pay my taxes this year. Yes sir, strike me down right now!”

“As you wish.” Mr. Stabely rested his hand on Mr. Kilage’s forehead for a moment as if to pray for him, and then in a twinkling of an eye, the knife plunged down, and the murder was complete. Mr. Stabely turned to the camera recording away and smiled in to it. “Now students that is how you kill a man: With care, humanity, and love. Keep this lesson close to you always. Your assignment will be to duplicate this video with your victim and yourself. Thank you.” With that it stopped recording, and he picked up his camera and knife and left the room softly, as if not to awake the late Mr. Kilage.
