This is mostly a true story. I have had similar experiences in the past, such that Santa got tired of flat muffins and gave me a can of baking powder.

The Great Baking Disappointment

I knew I shouldn’t have done it. I just thought I remembered how. Oh what a mistake! It was a miserable mess!

I was making muffins. I was sure they would come out fine, even though I lost my recipe. I remembered everything, I thought.

It was for my little brother’s birthday. I was pressed for time, and I scooped them into the pan. Then I put them in the oven and set the timer for twenty minutes. Then I went to wrap his present.

Ding! Ding! The timer went off. I hurried to the kitchen to check the muffins. Oh no! They weren’t burned, oh no, far from it. They were flat! Flat as pancake! I forgot the baking powder!

I like this, mostly because I have had similar experiences!

Thanks! I'm glad I'm not the only one who makes mistakes like this!

I'm cracking up because I did this with a cake once, maybe twice.

Several months after writing this piece, I was told that we had no more Tapioca starch. It had been stored in an old baking powder tub...

Need I say more?
