Dreamland

Just last week, i had this dream, that inspired me to start writing a new story. A girl walked down the street the sun was barely in thew sky and the world was still covered in dew. She walked in a way most people would call casually, in no hurry to reach her first period class on time. Her life was a peaceful one, but a boring one, nearly everything she did was a routine, even walking to school. There was never anything exciting happening in her little town. So as she walked to school that thursday morning, she was surprised to find a small shop that she had not seen before. It was small and plain, it had a sign above the door that read "Dream Shop". What a strange name, she had thought. She was prepared to walk straight past the shop, but something stopped her, as if some unseen person had grabbed her by the shoulders and held her back. She stared at the shop for a moment, wondering what could possibly be stopping her. Her mind then registered that her feet were leading her up the narrow walkway to the door of the strange shop. She tried to turn around, to go back to the street, but her feet would not listen to her, they were moving as if they had a mind of their own and she was just a passenger. The door opened before she even reached it, she kept walking, through the door way and into a tiny room. She looked back at the door and saw it had closed behind her, there was nobody there. Suddenly her feet stopped. She looked around the new room she had been carried into. A door to the side of her opened and a man stepped through. He was dressed in all black, holding a book. He stood before her, staring at her as if sizing her up, then he spoke. "Follow me Miss Juniper." He turned and walked back through the door he had come from. Juniper gaped at the doorway, how could he have known her name? Intrigued she followed the man. He led her through a dark hallway and into yet another room. Someone else was waiting for her, a girl She was lounging in a large chair, she wore a flowing black dress and her head was rested on her hand. "My, what a cute little bird you are." she said, she sounded bored, yet slightly amused. A white dove flew up and landed o her outstretched hand. "Yes, it is quite a pretty bird." Juniper told her. The girl looked at her and giggled. "I meant you."Juniper fell silent. the girl sighed and said. "You wish for your life to be less ordinary, to be exciting and see unusual things. I will grant your wish." Juniper stared at her. "What do you mean?" Juniper was mesmerized. "I will grant your wish, your life will become extraordinary and unpredictable. Though for each wish there must be equal exchange...your price is that you will serve me and work in my shop of dreams. You can think of it as a part time job." Juniper had been looking for a job, since she had recently been fired from her old job at a restaurant. "I accept." she replied. the girl giggled again "You start today." A wind swirled around juniper, infused with colors and shapes of things she had only seen in dreams, then the world as she knew it disappeared.
