Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction

The following is a piece of writing submitted by Angela Auten on October 31, 2009

My Job is Gone

"Angela, you are fired," my boss screamed at me. I didn't even know what I had done.

"What did I do sir," I asked him.

"Nothing. I just don't like you anymore," said my boss. I ran out of there crying my eyes out. How could my boss not like me anymore? I was his best employee.

I walked into the house and I was five hours early. I didn't really want to tell my family that I had gotten fired, but I would have to tell them. Right? I think they would want to know about that.

"You're home early," my mother said when she saw me walk in.

"You have never been home this early before," my dad said.

"I know," I said and sat down at the table.

"What happened," my mother asked me.

"My boss fired me," I said. They sat in shock for about ten minutes.

"He what," my dad screamed.

"He fired me for no reason," I said.

"I will have a talk with that man," my dad said.

"Not without me you don't," my mother responded. They left the house a few minutes later. Before I knew it my boss called me and told me that I had the job back. I was really excited and I worked there for another year.
