Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction

The following is a piece of writing submitted by lostcerebellum on February 13, 2009
"I wrote this after flower shopping for my wife. There were several displays, each really having almost identical flowers, but every one of them looked different. A variation in the number of certain flowers, or just a change in arrangement, made a great difference in the appearance of each bouquet. Some appealed to me more than others, but I noticed that my preference weren’t necessarily the same as those of other people who were looking at the same arrangements, so one bouquet went home to my wife and the others went elsewhere.

Like those floral displays, we’re all alike in so many ways, yet each of us is absolutely unique. We’re all designed with differences, each meant for a different destiny, and each meant to appeal to, and meet the needs of, different people.
"

You’re So Special

You make me think of flowers, all prepared in a bouquet,
Uniquely put together in a lovely, sweet display.

Like facets of a diamond, which reflect the rays of light
Distinctly in a pattern that produces great delight,

The common traits of womanhood, arranged uncommonly,
Result in something special that is you exclusively.

You’re simply incomparable, a perfect rarity,
And I’m so glad you felt the need to give yourself to me.
