Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction

The following is a piece of writing submitted by flashtastic on January 7, 2009

A lot of action and a little dark comedy

I saw plenty of films in 2008 and aside from the the obvious pick of "The Dark Knight" as my favourite, there were a few others that I would consider purchasing.

Burn After Reading (Brad Pitt, George Clooney, John Malkovich)
I liked this film because of a few reasons. Firstly, it kept me laughing as Pitt's character was hilarious. Secondly, it surprised me and the film went in a (rather dark) direction that I didn't expect. I hate it when I watch a film and can predict exactly what's going to happen next. It ended a bit unexpectedly, but overall left a good impression.

Death Race (Jason Statham)
I liked this film because I went into it expecting a fast paced, no nonsense action flick and that's exactly what I got. Sure you could call Statham's performance one dimensional, but he played the part well and the special effects were great.

Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr., Jeff Bridges, Gwenyth Paltrow)
Again, another action flick but done really well. Special effects were great, characters were memorable (other than Terence Howard) and it kept you interested throughout the entire movie.
