Mask Part 1

No one could see behind her mask.
That this little girl had a terrible past.
She smiled a smile so soft and sweet.
To have her in your life would have been a treat.

When she were alone she took off her smile.
Hide in her room to be herself for a while.
Thought about her papa and they way he had died.
No one understood her so she laid there and cried.

Her mama was busy and looked right through.
She forgot about the girl who had little to do.
She tried acting out to get her attention.
Only finding herself in trouble at detention.

Drugs and alcohol became her best friend.
She wanted to escape the life she defend.
Her family looked down and called her a disgrace.
If only they had saw the depression on her face.

She found her way out at an early age.
Marrying a man so she could start a new page.
Little did she know her plan was a bust.
She married a man she barely could trust.

Her mental health became weaker with passing time.
Her arms were destroyed and were a clear sign.
She needed help from someone who could see.
That since her papa died nothing had been easy.

One night her life came crashing down.
No longer strong enough to turn up her frown.
She put herself in a hospital far from the city.
Where she could get help and come out feeling pretty.

Her family they realized her smile was fake.
That they had missed the signs and made some mistakes.
Her mama cried and pleaded for her forgiveness.
She had been looking past her daughters sickness.
