I'd love to hear everyone's favorite quotes! I've started compiling a list of my favorites, some from books, some from movies and tv, and some that my friends have come up with. Here's one of my favorites. This conversation took place between two of my friends and myself at my birthday party a couple of months ago.

Annie (age 10): “You should take a picture of the mushrooms so their feelings don’t get hurt.”

Caleb: “Yeah, you could always take a picture and then delete it after we’ve eaten them. They’ll never know.”

And if you want something more in the way of literature, here's a great quote by Mark Twain:

"We consider that any man who can fiddle all through one of those Virginia Reels without losing his grip, may be depended upon in any kind of musical emergency."

:-D

Ahh....

I already posted this first one in the Random section, but oh well...

Professor: "Let's talk about logarithms."
Me: "Is that like an Indian playing a drum?"

"Great, now what am I going to do with these massive shards of glass?"

"Almost missed!!"

Um, is that a quote? And if so then where does it come from or who said it? (I mean besides the obvious. :-P)

From Alan Paton's Too Late The Phalarope:

"If man takes unto himself God's right to punish, then he must also take upon himself God's promise to restore."

"There's a hard law, mejuffrou, that when a deep injury is done to us, we never recover until we forgive."

From Alan Paton's Cry, The Beloved Country:

"We do what is in us, and why it is in us, that is also a secret. It is Christ in us, crying that men may be succoured and forgiven, even when He Himself is forsaken."

"It is not permissible to add to one's possesions if these things can only be done at the cost of other men. Such development has only one true name, and that is exploitation."

"I am a weak and sinful man, but God put His hands on me, that is all."

"I have one great fear in my heart, that one day when they have turned to loving, they will find we are turned to hating."

"Cry, the beloved country, for the unborn child that is the inheritor of our fear. Let him not love the earth too deeply...For fear will rob him of all if he gives too much."

I had to look that up - I'd heard the quote before, but didn't know where it was from. Apparently this was from an episode of M*A*S*H?
