This is not about a bug, but I'm posting it because I get a little frustrated when I can't remember how to do something and have to hunt through all the threads in the forum or comments posted on people's pages to find the information I'm looking for. I figure I can save myself a lot of time later if I just look for it all now and compile it, so I'm using this space as my reference page. Maybe someone else will find it useful as well. Feel free to add information regarding formatting and forum use that you would find helpful to have in one place.

How To Quote Someone
My sister told me to call this thread "Helpful information that got lost deep in the recesses of other unrelated threads."
Remove the spaces after the word quote and it looks like this.

How To Link to a Post
Quote
Let's say, as an example, that I want to link to my writing titled: It Felt Like the End of the World.

At the top of the page I see a line that begins "Posted by Douglas". At the end of that line it says: "ID = 248"

Now I return to the forum and in my post I include the following:

[ gallery=248]

(Remove the space before gallery) And it will appear in the thread like this:

It Felt Like the End of the World

How To Italicize, Bold, and Underline
Quote
If you want to make something italic, put this: < i> before the word or phrase you want italicized, and this: < /i> after it. (Again, remove the spaces.)

Same for underscore (use "u"), and bold (b).

Spacing
Put an extra space between paragraphs so post can be read easily.

Dashes
Use two hyphens.

Thanks Sylvan Sylph. I'll leave this for other people to add to, in case there's other formatting information people think of - after awhile I'll use it to compile a FAQ page about formatting.
