Heh heh. Not a bug or forum question... but I was wondering if there was a way to reference link a serial post, like linking regular posts?

Ok, not a forum question, but for some reason I can't seem to access the rest of my favorites list on my Profile Page. When I click the link "More Favorites" I get the following: "The page you tried to access does not exist on this server. This page may not exist due to the following reasons:" etc.

This should be taken care of now.

Yep! Thanks Doug! :-)

not yet, and probably not any time soon, but I'll add that in at some point.

The site remembers two sets of flags. One for YOU logged in, and one for the random person who might visit the site on your computer but not be logged in.

If that explanation does not describe what you're seeing, let me know.

I'm not really sure how the forum stars are supposed to work, but they don't make any sense to me, and they don't follow your above explanation. I am on the same computer every day, always logged in, and no one else uses this computer to look at FMOF. Still, I often go into the forum and see stars lit on some threads and not on others, both of which are unread. I also don't like the fact that I have to close all FMOF windows in order for the stars to indicate that I have read a thread. I really prefer to have them go gray when I leave the forum, like they do over at Quote Puzzler.

When I built the QP forum, I used a slightly non-standard approach, because I knew that people would use the QP forum differently than typical forums. And while it works well for that application, I still took flak from people who were used to "standard" functioning. So I build this one using a "normal" approach.

In a standard message board, the lighting system has nothing to do with whether you've read it or not - it has to do with what's new since the last time you visited. And last time you've visited is determined by one of the following:

1. The last time you closed the browser window
2. The last time you logged out
3. The last time you left the site idle for 20 minutes or more

Actually - not all message boards do that last one - I just joined a message board yesterday, which uses one of the more common forum software, and have found that if I stay logged in, and never close the browser, the lights never unlight, even if I leave the message board for hours at a time.

Considering I never shut down my computer, and never close my browser window, and never log out, that means the lights are completely useless in that forum.

like they do over at Quote Puzzler.

You are on QP? I am too. Is there anyone else here that is too?

Ok, not a bug, not a forum question, just curiosity...

When I look at my writing that's been favorited by other readers, I notice that the order they're in keeps moving around. Is there a specific way that the favorites are ordered?

Items which have been marked as favorites by the largest number of people are listed first. Beyond that, the ordering is fairly arbitrary (in other words: meaningless) :D

Can you put a "Formatting Help" like you have on QP?

hhmmm... Not really a forum question, more like a site question/suggestion, but as there's not thread for that...

I think that on the forum especially, it would be handy to have the bar with the Home/My Page/ My Neighbors/etc. on the bottom of the page as well. Maybe it's just me being lazy, but what does anybody else think?

Douglas

Probably not - both aesthetically and functionally I don't think it would work well. Aesthetically, that bar is designed for the top. Functionally, we need the row of links that are already at the bottom, and adding a bunch more would make it confusing and cluttered.
