Vacation time is almost here and yet
My mind is numb as work is bearing down
To last for just a week is not a threat
So soon I won't heard about the town

Incidentally, an Elizabethan Sonnet is 3 rhyming quatrains with an ABAB scheme, followed by a heroic couplet (two rhyming iambic pentameter lines)

So the scheme is:

ABAB
CDCD
EFEF
GG

Here's an example I wrote this morning: Hawk III

Are you going any place special for your vacation? Hope you survive your week! :)

My time is mine, vacations round the year
It's just a problem when my cash is short
I'd like to travel but no can do, here
Is where I'll stay, unless I can teleport

You know you're getting good at poetry
If you can quickly delve into your brain
And spit out answers to the questions asked
In finely wrought iambic rhymed quatrains!

I cannot sleep, I cannot wake, oh my!
I'm trapped 'twixt diametric conscious states!
When dreams intrude insanely on my mind
I know that I have entered dire straits.

When the time is slow I wish to float
Above the clouds inside my tiny boat
I sit all day and watch the clock go slow
The day is soon to end and I'm aglow
